Subhalakshmi K., Research Associate of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Cell Biology lab from the Amrita School of Biotechnology, participated and presented a poster entitled “A Novel Non-Active Site Inhibition of Carbonic Anhydrase by Acacetin: Implications for Cardioprotection” at the International Conference on Cardiovascular Translational Research and the 13th Annual Conference of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR) (Indian Section). The conference was held at IIT Madras from January 22-24, 2016.
The theme of the conference was “Frontiers in Cardiovascular Translational Research and Medicine.” The intense scientific deliberations over 3 days evoked enhanced interests in various aspects of cardiovascular research. The conference brought together cardiologists and cardiovascular scientists from various parts of India and abroad. From the presidential talk by Dr. K.K.Talwar, Max Healthcare, New Delhi, to the plenary talk by Dr. Naranjan Dhalla, SBRC, Canada, the scientific sessions overwhelming suggested the strong convergence of basic and clinical research in the cardiovascular research community.
