Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director, ACARA, Amrita School of Ayurveda was a featured presenter at the 13th National NAMA Conference in Chicago, USA, in April, 2017. The National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) is a national organization representing the Ayurvedic profession in the USA. Its mission is to preserve, protect, improve and promote the philosophy, knowledge, science and practice of Ayurveda for the benefit of humanity.
The official sessions of the conference opened on April 22, 2017, with the first plenary talk, “Roadmap for Approaches to Integrate Ayurveda and Modern Medicine”, by Dr. P. Ram Manohar. In his talk, he emphasised the contributions that Ayurveda can make in providing a framework for integration of multiple approaches to healing by development of a metalanguage that can cross link different paradigms of health. He also participated in two panel discussions during the conference. The first was a panel on Applied Clinical Research in Ayurveda with Jennifer Rioux as moderator and Dr. Diana Lurie and Dr. Ram Mohanar as the other panellists.
Dr. Manohar also participated in the closing panel of the NAMA Conference with Dr. Dhaval Dhru as moderator and Dr. Trupti Gokani, Dr. Vasant Lad and Dr. Sunil Joshi as the other panellists. The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates from all over USA including modern medical practitioners, alternative medicine practitioners and scientists.
