Mr. Jose James, Senior Researcher at AMMACHI (Amrita Multi Modal Applications Using Computer & Human Interaction) Labs‘ Haptics team, and a Research Fellow at the University of Sannio, Italy, attended the IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements & Applications 2018 (MeMeA2018) held at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, from June 11-13, 2018. AMMACHI Labs has been working on using computer-based haptic tools for education and skill training, employing case studies that involve rural India and women empowerment, among others.
Mr. Jose presented a collaborative paper titled, “Haptics Enhanced Interfaces for Remote Control of Measurement Instrumentation”, along with Mr. Pasquale Daponte, Professor, University of Sannio, Italy; Mr. Sergio Rapuano, Associate Professor, University of Sannio, Italy and Mr. Luca De Vito, Assistant Professor, University of Sannio, Italy.
As part of the Erasmus Mundus LEADER program, Jose got an opportunity to pursue his research at the University of Sannio, Italy. The Amrita Center for International Programs (ACIP) is the central point for international academic relations at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. The center has also been facilitating visits between Universities abroad through ongoing collaborations and new agreements and has been enabling and promoting the Amrita Live-in-Labs® program for experiential learning.
