Team members from AMMACHI Labs attended the NyPunyam Summit in Thiruvanananthapuram on January 20th and 21st at the Leela Kovalam. This two day international skills summit was dedicated to addressing “Global Needs. Local Skills.” A variety of topics were covered such as: how technology can be used to enhance vocational training, issues with the current system of skilling in India, the needs of the industry in identifying stakeholders in the vocational ecosystem and current pedagogical trends. Key players in the skill development arena were present such as Labour Minister Shibu Baby John and members from Technopark. In his concluding address Chief Minister Oommen Chandy also remarked how virtual institutions will be game changers in vocational training.
Representatives from Amrita included Padma Jayaraman, Director of MySangham, and Brahmacharini Sai Bala, Director of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer from AIMS. About NyPunyam Padma Jayaraman said: “NyPunyam was a very informative and enriching event. Government and Industry experts shared their insights, ideas and challenges in the skills arena. MySangham has the potential to become a key technology enabler in the skills landscape through its support for stakeholders to connect, collaborate and engage, thereby closing the loop in the skills training life cycle – from Learning, Certification to Employment.”
