Graduates of pharmacy programs, B. Pharm., M. Pharm. and Pharm D. (PB) students from the Amrita School of Pharmacy received a fond farewell. On August 14, 2014, Amrita School of Pharmacy bid farewell to the outgoing students of B. Pharm. 2010 batch, M. Pharm. 2012 batch and Pharm. D. (PB) 2011 batch.
Dr. Sabitha M., Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi gave a heartfelt welcome to the future professionals. The benedictory address was delivered by Sampoojya Swami Poornamritananda Puri, General Secretary, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, followed by presidential address by Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi.
The chief guest of the day was Shri. T. K. Jose, IAS, Chairman, Coconut Development Board, The Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Government of India. Shri. T. K. Jose shared the message to serve the people and society with care and emphasized that research is an integral part of any new drug development. He also explained about the scope and various possibilities of interdisciplinary research as well as entrepreneurship in the current scenario.
The guest of honor, Shri. Ravi Menon, Deputy Drug Controller, Kerala State Drugs control Department, emphasized on the need of values such as dedication, hardwork and commitment to elevate the profession of pharmacy. He also said that more graduates should opt for a career in Pharma Industries.
Shri. Ravi Menon administered the Pharmacist Oath for the future professionals. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Shantikumar Nair, Dean of Research, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham followed by Dr. S. Sudheendran, Consultant Vascular and Transplant Surgeon, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi who felicitated the gathering.
They wished the students all success and urged them to make the institution proud. Sampoojya Swami Poornamritananda Puri blessed the students and handed over AMMA’s message to the students. The outgoing students also shared their experiences and how the education at Amrita transformed them to serve the people better in healthcare. Dr. Vidya Viswanad, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Amrita School of Pharmacy, proposed the vote of thanks, who once again wished all the students a great career ahead.
