A Memorandum of Understanding Partnership between UNESCO chairs of Amrita and BENECON University Consortium, Italy was signed on December 4, 2020.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Partnership of UNESCO Chairs was signed by Dr. Bhavani Rao R., the UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality & Women’s Empowerment and Prof. Arch. Carmine Gambardella, UNESCO Chair on Landscape, Cultural Heritage and Territorial Governance & President and CEO of BENECON – Centre of Excellence for Cultural Heritage, Ecology and Economy, Italy.
This formal partnership connects Amrita with a university consortium – University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, Pegaso University, University of Naples Federico II, University of Salerno, University of Sannio – in Italy and will foster the development of joint initiatives and enhance the institutional missions of the collaborators.
This MOU solidifies Amrita’s and BENECON’s commitment to collaborate on addressing the UN SDGs. In particular the two institutions will come together to create innovative, context-based solutions to impact Good Health and Well-being (SFG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10).
Dr. Bhavani Rao, Amrita’s UNESCO Chair professor on Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality is the Director of AMMACHI Labs and promotes international, inter-university cooperation and networking to enhance institutional capacities, collaborative work and research with a focus on women’s empowerment.
