On March 22, 2024, a group of 70 students, accompanied by 7 faculty/staff members, embarked on a captivating expedition to Kerala Kalamandalam Cheruthuruthy, an esteemed institution preserving the artistic heritage of Kerala through rigorous training and performance of various classical art forms. The visit, organized by the Music and Dance Club of Amrita School of Pharmacy, was meticulously crafted to delve into the depths of Kerala’s vibrant cultural heritage and traditional artistic expressions.
Arriving promptly at 10:00 AM, the group immersed themselves in the sprawling campus of Kerala Kalamandalam, eager to absorb the essence of Kerala’s classical art forms. From the graceful movements of Bharatanatyam to the enchanting allure of Mohiniyattam, the students were enthralled by the mastery displayed by the artists. Musical renditions featuring the rhythmic beats of Maddalam and Chenda further enriched their experience, offering a melodic glimpse into Kerala’s rich artistic legacy.
The tour continued with a profound exploration of the Vallathol Narayana Menon Museum, commencing at 12:30 PM. Within the museum, students encountered a treasure trove of artifacts, accolades, and photographs commemorating the illustrious Malayalam poet Mahakavi Vallathol Narayana Menon. Delving into the life and contributions of this literary luminary, participants gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural tapestry woven through Kerala’s history.
At 1:00 PM, a delightful lunch awaited the travelers as they treated themselves to a sumptuous feast of local cuisine at a nearby restaurant. As the clock approached 4:30 PM, the journey drew to a close, leaving indelible impressions of cultural enrichment and educational enlightenment.
