The 12th Convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was held at Coimbatore campus on September 7, 2015. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Honourable Union Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India and Shri. N. Chandrasekaran, CEO, TCS, were the Guests of Honour at the convocation ceremony.
5036 graduating students, in their traditional attire, from all 5 Amrita campuses viz. Amritapuri, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore and Kochi, received their degree certificates. This included 24 graduands receiving their doctoral degrees.
Brahmachari Abhayamrita Chaitanya, the Pro-Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, presented the annual report highlighting the various significant accomplishments of the institution. Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri, Member, Board of Management, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham delivered the benedictory address.
Union Minister for Science & Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan delivered the convocation address. He emphasised the importance of inculcating good values and encouraged the students to have a seemingly unattainable dream and try to achieve it– like the mission that he had taken up for polio immunisation. He said that people should dream beyond attaining personal goals, and move towards achieving something big for one’s fellow citizens and the humanity at large.
Shri. N. Chandrasekaran, CEO, TCS, spoke about the exciting times and the opportunities landscape. He shared some of life’s lessons that included living by values, realising one’s potential, having a set goal and charting out the path, thinking big, teamwork and learning, while living a healthy life.
After awarding the meritorious students with medals and prizes, the degree certificates were awarded to the graduating students.
