Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences observed World Cancer Day on February 4, 2015. Film Actor and the MP Innocent inaugurated the function. He inaugurated the Amrita Cancer Helpline and released the cancer registry book on the occasion. Br. Anaghamrita Chaithanya delivered the benedictory address.
The website of ‘Canserve’ – an organization of cancer survivors was inaugurated by P. Jayaraj, Deputy Excise Commissioner. Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director; Ibrahim Khan, Kerala CBSE School Management Association President; Dr. Pavithran K., Professor and Head of Medical Oncology; Dr. M. Dinesh, Professor and Head of Radiation Oncology; Dr. D. K. Vijaykumar, Professor and Head of Surgical Oncology; Mrs. Kala Joymon, President, Canserve; Dr. Michelle Aline Antony, Assistant Professor, Department of Gynaecological Oncology were the others who spoke on the occasion.
The inaugural function was followed by awareness programs, quiz competition for school students, cultural programs and a flash mob. The first, second and third prizes for quiz competition were bagged by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Aluva; Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad; and Amrita Vidyalayam, Ernakulam respectively.
