With the noble intention of reviving the art of public speaking and helping students cope with the increasing competition in the corporate world, the Corporate and Industry Relations (CIR) at the Coimbatore campus, organizes a public speaking contest for third-year engineering students every year. The event this year was held on 12th April, 2016, at Amriteswari Hall. Students displayed their oratorical skills by expressing their views on a whole range of interesting topics such as: world without borders; live the moment; Red taoism; is India intolerant?; desire for fame; marriages are made in heaven; how to face difficult challenges in life; it is a girl; the right to offend; believe in yourself; the magic key; the race; belief, mistakes – the path to success; the child within; live life today; deep within and the road not taken.
All the eighteen finalists were equally competent and confident, but with a marginal difference in marks, three winners were chosen. Divyendu Kishore Valappil from the Department of Aerospace Engineering, emerged the winner; Deepika Ramnath, the first runner up and Suresh K. Shishir, the second runner up were both from the Department of Electronics and Communication.
Prof. C. Parameswaran, Director, Corporate and Industry Relations (CIR) encouraged the students with his inspiring speech and distributed certificates to the participants and awarded prizes to the winners.
