Dr Hemalatha Sasidharakurup is a Research Associate at the Amrita Mind Brain Center. She has a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the Amrita School of Biotechnology at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Her research focuses on Computational Modelling of Neurological Conditions, integrating principles from systems biology, mathematics, and computational modelling. Her work extends to the detailed analysis of pathway modelling for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, looking into the complexities and commonness of these neurodegenerative conditions. Her research explores the different roles of abnormal protein aggregation, genetic mutations, gut-microbiome connection, oxidative stress, inflammation, and insulin resistance in neurodegeneration. This extends to building disease models for researchers and experimentalists, and also the development of digital patient twins for clinicians and healthcare systems, aiming to facilitate early diagnosis and enhance treatment strategies.
