Bio

Prof. T. Kannan currently serves as Principal & HoS, School of Computing, Nagercoil and Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Nagercoil. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching, research and administration. His areas of interest are Metal Joining, Surface Engineering and Optimization. Under his supervision, 5 researchers have completed their Ph.D. degrees and 1 Scholar is currently doing doctoral research. He has published more than 175 Technical papers in reputed International and National Journals and edited books besides presenting several papers in Conferences. He has chaired, organized and conducted many workshops, seminars and conferences. He was the Principal Investigator of the Sponsored project on ‘Studies on Pitting Corrosion and Ferrite Number of Duplex Stainless Steel Clad Metals Deposited by Pulsed GMAW’ funded by AICTE. He is a life member of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering, Indian Society for Technical Education, Indian Institute of Welding, and Indian Welding Society. He has received the ‘Best Project Award’ for his Undergraduate project work from the Director of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu, for the year 1989. Recognizing his contribution and service to the field of Higher Education, he was awarded ‘Cognizant – Kumaraguru College of Technology Best Faculty Award -2008’ by the Cognizant Technology Solutions and ‘Rotary Vocational Service Excellence Award’ from the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Millennium for the year 2017.
