Bio

S Shriram currently serves as Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Campus.

He obtained his M. Tech. in Construction Engineering and Management from Anna University, Guindy. Subsequently, he registered for his Ph.D. at IIT Madras, under the guidance of Prof K. Ramamurthy, in the Building Technology and Construction Management Division. His doctoral research work was on the topic of the Development of CO2 Based Demand-controlled Ventilation Strategy for Workspaces with Ductless Split Air-conditioner and the Assessment of the Physiological Effect of CO2 on Humans.  He has submitted his doctoral thesis and is awaiting the award of the degree. He was bestowed with the “Institute Research” award by IIT Madras for his unique and substantial contribution towards society during his doctoral period.

Mr. Shriram has published two journal articles and a conference paper. His current research areas are the Assessment of Ventilation Requirements in Air-conditioner Buildings and its Effect on Human Cognitive Ability, Low-Cost Sensor Deployment, energy efficiency in buildings, and thermal comfort for occupants under different climatic zones.  He was a University rank holder both in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes. The Journal of Building and Environment has nominated him for the Best Paper Award and Young Researcher Award for the Year 2019.
