Dr. Renjith R. serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Visual Media and Communication at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amrita School of Arts, Humanities and Commerce, Kochi Campus. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Journalism from the University of Kerala. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Communication and Journalism (MCJ) from the University of Kerala. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Information Technology and Electronics (NCVT), and has qualified both the UGC-NET and the State Eligibility Test (SET) in Mass Communication and Journalism.
Dr. Renjith has more than ten years of academic and media-related experience. He previously served at the Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Kerala, where he was involved in teaching and mentoring students, providing hands-on training in print, radio, and visual media production. He also played an active role in coordinating academic and media events, supporting research initiatives, and managing administrative responsibilities such as NAAC data collection and documentation. His journalistic and editorial skills span print, broadcast, and digital media, with proficiency in layout design, photography, video editing, and content creation.
His doctoral research, titled ‘Communication Technology in Mass Media: Transitions and Transformations’, explored the evolving relationship between media and technology using a triangulated research approach. The study analyzed how communication technologies have influenced journalistic practices, media innovation, and audience behavior in the digital era.
Dr. Renjith’s research interests include Mass Communication and Technology, Digital Media and Journalism, Communication Technology and Media Innovation, Media Consumption and Audience Behavior, Convergence of Media Platforms, Emerging Trends in Media Production and Dissemination, and Newsroom Automation.
He has several research publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored numerous science and technology articles in Mathrubhumi GK and Current Affairs, one of Kerala’s leading knowledge magazines.
He has taught a range of subjects including Media Laws, Ethics and Policies; Print Media Production; Television and Radio Production; Digital Media and Content Creation; Photography and Video Production; and Writing for Mass Media.
