Bio

Dr. J. Pushkaran is a consultant Neurosurgeon in Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi since July 2024 and has more than one-and-a-half-decades of experience in Neurological surgery. He currently serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Neurosurgery at Amrita School of Medicine.

Dr. Pushkaran completed his Neurosurgery residency from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, one of the oldest and reputed medical institute in India. He is trained in various disciplines of Neurosurgery in India and abroad. He possesses a vast experience in clinical & operative Neurosurgery, working in various medical centers, within India and overseas.

His domains of interest are Neurovascular Surgery (Endovascular & Microvascular Neurosurgery), Stroke Intervention and Epilepsy & Functional Neurosurgery. His expertise in the management of MRI-negative drug-resistant epilepsies, pediatric epilepsy surgeries, Deep brain stimulation for movement disorders & refractory epilepsies, acute ischemic hemispheric strokes, carotid artery stenosis precipitating minor stroke, complex vascular anomalies such as arterio-venous shunt lesions (AVMs & dural AV fistulas), aneurysms and brain tumors are noteworthy. His skills in endovascular and open vascular neuro-interventions are exemplary.

His avocation in academic activities and commitment in teaching-programs are fruitful to the Neurosurgery trainees and residents. He has published many articles in high-indexed peer-reviewed renowned medical journals, delivered speeches and interviews in the mass media as special guest in his field of expertise, and presented platform presentations and posters in the various National and International Neurosurgery conferences.

He is committed to continuous professional development and adept in utilizing state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technologies and surgical techniques to provide the best patient outcome. Pronounced for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for ensuring comprehensive patient care.
