Bio

Dr. Prasanth B. is a scholar in the field of Advaita Vedānta, having earned his Ph.D. with a thesis that delved deeply into the paradigms of dṛṣṭānta-s of the Upaniṣad-s and their interpretive methodologies across the three principal schools of Vedānta.

He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Calicut and an M.A. from Sri Venkateswara University. He has an extensive background in Indian Philosophy and Tantra, studying under the esteemed Swami Kaivalyananda Giri and the renowned Tantri Thazhuvally Matham Subhramanyan Nampoothiri respectively. His expertise extends to Indian Performing Arts and Sanskrit, reflecting a broad and deep engagement with India’s cultural and intellectual traditions.

Currently, Dr. Prasanth serves as the coordinator of its Manuscript Conservation Centre, a project sanctioned by the National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM), focusing on preserving ancient manuscripts. He also played a crucial role in establishing the Manuscript Resource Centre at Amritapuri campus, aimed at documenting and cataloguing Kerala’s manuscripts. In addition to his conservation efforts, Dr. Prasanth has initiated and coordinated the “Non-Formal Sanskrit Education Center” project, which offers systematic Sanskrit courses to students, faculty, and staff at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.  Dr. Prasanth also coordinates the “Audio-video Documentation of Paḍayanī and Kalamezhuthu” project, preserving these ritualistic art forms of Kerala through comprehensive documentation. His administrative roles include faculty recruitment, course planning, fund requests, and project collaborations. Among his ongoing projects, Dr. Prasanth is working on producing a complete critical edition of Pāṇini’s Aṣṭādhyāyī, a monumental task not attempted on such a scale thus far. He also serves as Chief Editor of the cultural magazine SAMVIT. His efforts are dedicated to preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.
