Bio

Dr. Lekha Viswanath is a graduate of School of Medical Education, MG University, Kerala. She completed M.Sc Nursing from the Government College of Nursing, Medical College Hospital as the speciality topper in Obstetric Gynecologic Nursing and overall third rank under University of Calicut. Her Ph.D is from National Consortium for PhD in Nursing which is an initiative of Indian Nursing Council in Collaboration with WHO and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Banglore.

Dr. Lekha Viswanath joined Amrita, Faridabad campus as Professor and Principal of College of Nursing. She also assumes the role of Deputy Nursing Director, Amrita Hospital as a part of promoting integration of nursing education and service. She envisions creation of a collaborative model for nursing practice for improving the quality of nursing education, practice and research.

She has nearly 20 years experience in clinical, teaching, research & administrative domains. Teaching experience covers various programmes in Nursing; Ph.D Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, PG in Nurse Practitioner, B.Sc Nursing, Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing, and GNM including distance education(IGNOU). Before joining Amrita, Faridabad she worked with Swami Rama Himalayan university, Dehradun as Professor and Chief Quality Manager of Himalayan Hospital. She was with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus as faculty in College of Nursing for thirteen years. Her special interests include creative teaching -learning strategies, Positive Learning experience, Quality improvement in Nursing Education and Practice, Patient experience.
