Prof. K.S.Ravichandran joined as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Amrita School of Physical Sciences, Coimbatore campus
Prior to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, he was the Registrar at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), an Institute of National Importance, Government of India, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, and the Associate Dean – Research at SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur. During his tenure at SASTRA, he handled various Engineering Mathematics courses, Machine Learning, and Computer related courses like Data Mining, Randomized Algorithms, Computer Graphics, Data Structure and Algorithms, Theory of Computation, and so on. He guided 15 Ph.D., scholars, and 50+ PG scholars in the areas of machine learning-based disease identification, software testing and multi-criterion decision-making frameworks. He serves as the Associate Editor for SCOPUS indexed international journal published by Springer, and the reviewer for more than 25 SCI /SCIE-indexed journals including IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Transactions on Neural Computing, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Big Data, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, IEEE Access, Applied Soft Computing journal, Neural Networks and Applications, Expert Systems and Applications and so on.
He had completed UG Mathematics at Madras University, PG, and M.Phil., in Mathematics at
Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. Later, he completed M.C.A., in Computer Applications at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli and Ph.D., Mathematics at Alagappa
University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu.
He had published more than 200 research articles, of which 175+ are SCOPUS Indexed,90+ are indexed in SCI / SCIE / ABDC with a cumulative Impact Factor of 360+, and an average impact factor for SCI / SCIE / ABDC indexed publications is above 4.25 with H-index 25. Most of his publications done by him are in collaborations with international scientists, who are working in the top 500 world-ranking institutions and/or top 2% of scientists in the world. His name has been included in the family of elite scientists and researchers in the area of Multi-Criteria Decision Making.
He has completed two funded projects as Principal Investigator namely a project from BRNS,
Mumbai (24.4 Lakhs) and project from DRDO, New Delhi (53.4 Lakhs). Also, he has completed one ICT-enabled pedagogy project offered by IIT-KGP in collaboration with MHRD for the course “Operations Research”.
He also attended the three-week LEAP initiative (Leadership for Academician Programme) funded by MHRD with two-week from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and one-week from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
