Bio

Dr. P.R. Janci Rani is currently serve as Chairperson and Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. She has a strong educational background, having obtained her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from Bharathiyar University. She further pursued her M.Phil and Ph.D. at Avinashilingam Institute for Women in Coimbatore, India. Dr.Janci Rani has been associated with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham since 2001, where she has been actively involved in various roles, including administration, academics, and research. Her contributions to the university have been significant. Her broad area of research interests is Community Nutrition and Public Health focusing towards pre- and post-natal nutrition, functional foods, food product development, and food service management. Her expertise lies in studying the impact of nutrition on communities and exploring ways to improve health outcomes through dietary interventions. Additionally, she contributes to the development of functional foods and works on enhancing food service management practices. With her comprehensive knowledge and research experience, Dr.Janci Rani plays a vital role in advancing the understanding of nutrition and public health at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Focus Area

Dr. P.R. Janci Rani’s research is centered around advancing knowledge in Community Nutrition and Public Health, with a particular emphasis on improving health outcomes in vulnerable populations. Her work focuses on pre- and post-natal nutrition, aiming to support maternal and child health through evidence-based dietary interventions. By studying the nutritional challenges faced by communities, Dr. Janci Rani seeks to develop innovative approaches to combat malnutrition and enhance overall well-being.
