The Bioethics SAARC Nodal Centre at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi is excited to announce the celebration of World Bioethics Day on the 6th and 7th of October 2023. This year’s theme, ‘Protecting Future Generations,’ draws inspiration from Article 16 of the UNESCO’s Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights (UDBHR) 2005. The focus is on creating a multidimensional environment that ensures the physical, mental, psychological, social, and moral health of future generations.
One of the most pressing issues threatening the prosperity of future generations is the environmental crisis. Therefore, addressing this challenge involves taking concrete steps to reduce carbon emissions, protect biodiversity, conserve natural resources, and develop sustainable technologies.
Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the future, and ensuring access to quality education is vital. This includes not only imparting academic knowledge but also fostering practical skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. By equipping future generations with the necessary tools and knowledge, we empower them to make informed decisions and contribute to society positively.
