The Department of Mathematics, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, organised a two day workshop on “SageMath” from February 15 – 16, 2019.
The workshop was held at the I floor Computer lab S113 .The aim of the workshop was to promote the students and faculty members to get familiarize with the mathematics software called ‘SageMath’ and use it to make mathematics more interesting and easier. Dr, Vishnu Namboothiri K, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Govt. College Ambalappuzha was the resource person for the two day workshop.
In the workshop using SAGEMATH notebook , many mathematical calculations where done such as finding derivatives of functions, finding integrals of functions, plotting of functions including 3D plotting, solving equations, calculating mean, algebra of matrices, algebra of vectors etc. All of these are done using sage software which made students much excited in learning.
The two days where entertaining and the students were highly benefited from it. At the end of the second day, there was a concluding session of the workshop at 4.30 pm. In that, students from different classes share their views about the workshop. Finally a vote of thanks was proposed by our faculty coordinator Sreelatha K. Sharma. Certificates of participation were also distributed in the concluding section. The workshop was well appreciated by the students and faculty members.
The workshop was conducted as a part of the inauguration of Mathematics Association “Bijamati” of Amritapuri campus.
