About

Join us to explore how multi-mission satellite remote sensing observes Earth from different perspectives. Remote sensing datasets have a wide range of applications from simple observation of earth surface changes to the complex model building of different interconnected processes and events. The talk will demonstrate the multi-disciplinarity of remote sensing technology like forestry, agriculture, geohazards, urban area, biodiversity, etc. Other than the different potentials of satellite remote sensing, the webinar will expose you to how to download underlying data via different search tools. A demo will be given on how and where to download different datasets and read them in ArcGIS / ENVI

About the Speaker

Dr. Alka Singh currently serves as an Assistant Professor (SLG) at the Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications, Amritapuri Kerala. Dr. Alka’s area of expertise is in remote sensing of hydrology. She is interested in solving Earth Science-related problems with a holistic and sustainable approach. Prior to joining Amrita, Dr. Alka was a postdoctoral scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre, Greenbelt, Maryland, USA, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA) & California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, California (U.S.A). She did her Ph.D. from the Technical University of Munich, Germany on hydrological mass variations.
