About the Workshop
The Department of Mathematics, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus, will be organizing the workshop entitled “Two – Day Workshop on Active Learning Using Mathematical Software Tools” during December 9 – 10, 2022.
This workshop intends to equip novices with a full theoretical and hands-on practical experience with MATLAB, R-Programming, Python and LATEX.
MATLAB is one of the prominent software for quantitative analysis. It combines computation, visualization, and programming in a user-friendly environment in which problems and solutions are stated in common mathematical notations. Typical applications include: Algorithm development, Modeling, Simulation and Prototyping, Data analysis, to mention a few.
R-Programming is an integrated suite of software facilities for data manipulation, calculation and graphical display. It includes an effective data handling and storage facility, a suite of operators for calculations on arrays, in particular matrices, a large, coherent, integrated collection of intermediate tools for data analysis, graphical facilities for data analysis, and a well-developed, simple and effective programming language which includes conditionals, loops, user-defined recursive functions and input and output facilities.
Python, one of the most popular programming languages of this current decade, it includes a variety of sophisticated packages, which will assist one in solving complicated mathematical problems in a simple and quick manner. Python is a most desired tool in Machine Learning and Data Science.
LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting document preparation system. It is mostly used by academicians, engineers, and mathematicians on publishing technical/scientific articles. The typesetting system has programmable writing features as well as substantial tools for automating most elements of typesetting.
Objective & Targeted Audience
This workshop aims to bring together Professionals, Research Scholars, and Students, who are interested in Mathematical Software. The major aim of this workshop is to kick start one’s learning on Python, MATLAB, R Language and Latex. The gained knowledge may be applied in the research fields of various applications such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Software Developments, Dynamical Systems etc.,
