Invisible Mathematics

Abstract

“Invisible Mathematics” refers to the mathematical concepts and structures that underpin everyday phenomena but often go unnoticed in daily life. These hidden mathematical principles are foundational to technologies, systems, and processes that shape our world, such as algorithms in social media, encryption in online security, and the physics of natural systems. While these mathematical models are invisible to the average observer, they are essential in solving real-world problems and driving innovation. The study of invisible mathematics highlights how abstract mathematical theories manifest in practical, everyday applications, emphasizing the pervasive yet subtle role of mathematics in modern society

Workshop 1 – Forensic Sciences

Title: Crime Scene Investigation

Objective:

The primary objective of the CSI workshop is to equip participants with the essential skills required to handle crime scenes effectively. These skills include:

  • Crime Scene Management: Proper methods for securing, documenting, and managing a crime scene to prevent contamination and ensure the integrity of evidence.
  • Evidence Collection and Preservation: Techniques for identifying, collecting, and preserving physical evidence such as fingerprints, bloodstains, hair, fibers, and weapons, using specialized tools and protocols.
  • Crime Scene Photography: Training in the use of photography to document the crime scene from various angles, ensuring that all potential evidence is captured clearly for later analysis.
  • Forensic Analysis: Introduction to various forensic analysis techniques used in identifying and processing evidence, including biological, chemical, and trace evidence analysis.
  • Chain of Custody: Understanding the importance of maintaining an unbroken chain of custody for evidence to ensure its admissibility in court.
Instructor Profile:

The Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Workshop offered by the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Goa is a specialized training program designed for law enforcement professionals, forensic experts, students, and anyone interested in understanding the intricate processes involved in investigating crime scenes. This workshop provides participants with hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of the methodologies and techniques used to secure, analyze, and preserve evidence at a crime scene. The workshop is led by experienced forensic professionals and faculty from NFSU, who bring a wealth of knowledge from both academic and practical crime scene investigation fields.
