About the Seminar

The Seminar is designed to bring in to critical focus the rich and varied  cultural heritage of India and to provoke fresh perspectives on Indian culture  and its varied manifestations in regional literatures and prolific indigenous art forms.

Some of the core concerns of the Seminar are:

  • A critical re-appropriation of classical Indian aesthetics to the understanding of contemporary Indian
  • Comparitive approach to Indian and Western Critical
  • The role of regional literatures in the evolution of a national
  • The evolution of cultural consciousness in the traditional Indian
  • The Margi and Desi traditions in Indian
  • Cultural perspectives on the various strands of Indian
  • Mythopoeic imagination in Indian writings and
  • Negotiations of modernity in Indian cinema and
  • Impact of bhakti cult in Indian Art and
  • The embodiment of Indian ethos in Sanskrit
