An Agricultural Economist deeply committed to sustainable water resource and agricultural development through evidence-based and policy oriented research, policies and dialogues. He has about 27 years of experience and currently involved in policy oriented research on water resources issues particularly watershed management, tank irrigation management and groundwater. He has completed 38 research projects with national and international level organizations viz., IWMI, ICRISAT, GDN, SANDEE, IFS, IDE, SANEI, Government of India, NABARD, State Development Policy Council, and TAWDEVA etc. He has published 5 books, 20 technical bulletins, 27 book chapters and 64 research papers. He has received several international and national awards like ICAR Best Teacher Award (1999), D.K.Desai Prize Award (2004), Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (2005), Best Researcher Award (2006), Endeavour Executive Award (2009), Dr.R.T.Joshi Foundation Award (2010), and Scientist of Excellence in Niche Area of Research (2019). As a researcher, he has visited several countries including Deakin University, Austraila and Monash University, Malaysia. He has acted as consultant to PA Consulting Group, USA, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Sri Lanka etc.
