Inspiring the vision for Social Change
Amrita School of Arts and Sciences- Kochi welcomes you to ISMER 2022 – International Symposium on Media Education & Research: Inspiring the vision for Social Change. The symposium is organized by Centre for Innovative Design and Media Applied Research (CIDMAR) under the Department of Visual Media and Communication, from April 21 – 23, 2022.
An adage goes – ‘Necessity is the mother of all inventions, and Media is one among such innovations that changed the way we communicate. From when the early men painted walls with pictures to share to publishing the first newspaper in the 17th century, a lot has changed. As people began to read and write, the influence of traditional media increased manifolds. Print media dominated the space, but with the advent of the internet in 1965, media underwent Digitalization. Information is now exchanged in seconds, and media expanded its reach to the world’s remotest corners. From being accused of manipulating the views and ideas of the masses to uniting people for a common cause – Media has not just influenced our lives but has become a catalyst to inspire change in our society.
This year’s theme of ISMER 2022 is ‘Media Education & Research: Inspiring the vision for Social Change’. The three-day hybrid cultural event will bring together renowned global media and communication experts and researchers, academicians, business leaders, subject matter experts, and industry partners on a single platform. The symposium will feature expert talks, paper presentations, and round table discussions, focusing on Suggestions, recommendations, and policy decisions on the theme. 17 globally acclaimed Speakers will elaborate on their industry experience, and current trends making media an influencing factor. The event will provide an excellent opportunity for students, academic researchers, and academicians to understand industry trends ,challenges and solutions. They will also understand their role in making media a social change instigator. Participants and presenters will be provided with e-certificates. Publication guidance and placement talks will be conducted as part of the event.
