About Event

Introduction

The notion of self-reliance is to generate own resources, independence, self-sufficiency, resilience, emphasis on local capacity building and not depending on others. It gives priority to indigenisation with a sense of national mission as put forth by Swami Vivekananda. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership introduced the scheme Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. It recognizes the complementary role of private and government sectors for accelerating economic development. Essentially the approach of self-reliance will give better results through empowering people and bring better livelihood for the under privileged people. There are several initiatives taken by civil society organizations as well as Government of India for the development of the under-privileged. In the process of achieving self-reliance, the country cannot ignore the concept of inclusive growth. It is possible by focusing more towards eradication of poverty and employment opportunities which is fundamental to inclusive growth. Overall self-reliance is multi-dimensional and efforts from different sectors are required to achieve this objective.

In order to the achieve the goal of self-reliance, lessons learned from various stakeholders would give further boost to achieve the goal. Moreover, deliberations on various approaches and models on self-reliance could help replication and scaling up. It is not the responsibility of the government alone. Participation from civil society plays an important role in achieving self-reliance. Moreover, the lessons learned from various individuals, organizations on different aspects of self-reliance will be very crucial. Economic challenges post COVID-19 is highly challenging to make the progress in an efficient manner. COVID-19 has significantly impacted the growth of the country and it has given attention to new vision and effective approach to balance the economy. The present pandemic has taught us experience to face the biggest calamity ever faced by humanity in the history.

This seminar intended to join hands with efforts of government and civil society organizations to build new India. It will explore the varieties of initiatives taken by different sectors such as academicians, researchers, social workers’ intervention, grass root level NGO’s working to transform the life of under privileged people etc., Also it offers a platform to remember the unsung heroes of India’s freedom fighters, ideas to make India as Vishva Guru”, take lessons from India’s rich cultural heritage. Overall the seminar will provide a wonderful stage to celebrate India’s 75th anniversary of independence and give a great insight to enrich Self-reliant (Atmanirbhar Bharat) India.
