Indian Research / Industry sector, both governments funded and private, has a rich tradition of philanthropy and the sectors have made huge efforts to minimize the gap in several social areas to uplift the common well-being of society. Social Responsibility is established on the reciprocal dependence betw”een an organization and society. The Social Responsibility guidelines attempt to move ahead of a philanthropic model to a more expansive view that encompasses the integration of social and environmental issues into research decisions, goals and operations and also the integration betw”een organisations and their stakeholders. There is an increased need for organizations to focus on evolving a strong Social Responsibility policy and ensure implementation of the same. It is imperative that such policy should address the felt needs of community and society but also create shared social value both for the organization and its stakeholders for sustainability. Our countries major visionary growth policies are aligned with achieving the 169 targets leading to 17 UN SDGs. This Training program will be a gateway for understanding the ground reality in devising such policies, ability to solve many of the social issues and problems through Innovation and inculcate effective altruism ( i.e. evidence and reasoning to help establish the mutual benefits that effective altruism bestows on both the giver and the receiver of the benefits made available). The program would also include interaction with many eminent people who have worked on a wide variety of social projects who will share their experiences in a detailed way in this specially designed 5-day program.

A. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has developed and implemented ICT based solutions to provide ‘Quality Education’ to the under-privileged. Today, over 10 million people from diverse backgrounds i.e. vocational trainees, K-12 students, higher education graduates and teachers use Amrita’ s solutions
B. In the area of ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’, Amrita won Gates Foundation Award, to develop technologies to conserve water and bio-treat sanitary wastes. In addition, our research centers have architected low cost, DIY design construction of toilets to help scale the massive needs of toilets in India by helping local communities build them in over 21 states across India.
C. Amrita has been instrumental in empowering over 5000 women in skills based training and holistic development over the past 3 years.
D. The UNDP (UN Global Development Network) has recognized Amrita’ s work as one of the best examples in the world for architecting programs for enabling financial inclusivity of women and Amrita was awarded the ‘UNESCO chair in Gender Equality’ in 2016. The United Nations has officially made Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham India’s first ever UNESCO Chair on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The official bestowing of the UNESCO Chair on the Coimbatore-based university took place in Paris.
E. In 2015, Amrita has also been invited to the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) initiative to showcase the enormous social impact it has made. On 8 July at United Nations Headquarters, the United Nations Academic Impact Initiative (UNAI) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham co-hosted a one-day conference on “Technology for Sustainable Development”.
Amrita has had active engagements with over 40+ academic and research institutions in Europe from Sweden, Finland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. These include Bi-lateral funded research projects by EU in FP6, FP7, Leading coordinating roles for EU projects in India under the Erasmus+ programs for capacity building.
Amma will delivered the keynote address during the conference at the United Nations on technology and sustainable development in New York.

Our guest house is housed in the most beautiful location engulfed by mountains. The green pastures, water bodies provide an excellent locality. Well-equipped state of the art seminar hall facilitates the learning process. The guest house Accomodation facility includes A.C rooms, A.C suites and non A.C rooms, conference hall and dining hall. Guest house serves as the preferred venue for various events like board meetings, conferences, seminars, press meetings etc. It provides comfortable stay for our distinguished guests.
Candidates are encouraged to seek travel allowance (T A) from their respective parent institutes. However, on submission of certificate of non-availing of travel allowance (TA) from the competent authority of their parent institutes, the organizers will reimburse travel expenditures of the participants restricted to AC 2 tier train fare to the shortest route on production of tickets.
If participants opt for Air travel, Air India tickets only will be reimbursed up to AC 2 tier train fare.
