Prof (Dr) Sujit Bhattacharya

Prof (Dr.) Sujit Bhattacharya is Fmr. Chief Scientist and Dean Policy Research at CSIR-NIScPR and Professor in AcSIR (Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research). He is Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scientometric Research indexed in WoS and Scopus and member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Society for Innovation and Policy (ASIP). He has PhD from IIT-Delhi and MSc (Physics) from Delhi University. His main area of work covers Science, Technology Innovation Studies (STI), STI Policy Studies, Scientometrics with focus on STI indicators and ecosystems, technology assessment, and IPRs.

Has more than thirty-three years of research experience and was also Professor in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) from 2007-2009. Authored over 100 research papers and co- authored/coedited 13 books and presented in important conferences globally including the Global Ministerial Forum, Geneva Forum, Science Summit at UN78 General Assembly. Has led national and international projects, and is key member of major global STI networks.

Abstract

Bridging Policy and Research: Strengthening India’s STI Ecosystem and Societal Engagement

The talk will highlight the various aspects of science-technology-innovation policy research and how it provides opportunities for scholars from diverse fields to engage with it. It aligns with India’s significant paradigm shift towards innovation-driven, inclusive development. Globally, and particularly in South-South countries, there is growing interest in India’s approach to fostering new pathways for growth and development. Engaging with national missions, government STI institutions and programs, and DST STI policy centers will enhance the visibility of your research, inform policy and advocacy, and support the creation and strengthening of the new centers of excellence. These efforts will help strengthen India’s STI ecosystem and promote societal engagement. This talk will explore these themes.
