Dr. Sabu Thomas is the Director of Centre of Excellence in Microbiome Research,Thiruvananthapuram, Government of Kerala and former Faculty Scientist and Principal Investigator at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, with 28 years of research experience in environmental and clinical bacteriology and molecular microbiology. His research focuses on bacterial pathogens, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), biofilm, and the human microbiome.He is particularly interested in biofilm inhibition, probiotic development, and drug repurposing for bacterial infection control. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Centre of Excellence in Microbiome (CoEM) for the Government of Kerala and has mentored numerous Ph.D. and postgraduate students. He is a Task Force Member at ICMR and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, UK, among other honors.
