Every year the department conducts Faculty Development Programs, Workshops, co-ordinates Seminars and Student Paper Presentations to present the students and faculties with opportunities to exhibit their talents and improve their skills by having a healthy competition among their peers. Amrita brings about the best in each student by providing them ample opportunities to organize and co-ordinate many regional, national and international workshops, seminars, technical fests, participate in a lot of international programming contests. Students and faculty from Amrita have consistently been taking part in many contests and achievements at the global level and this persistent participation in such large numbers have acquired the praise of the co-ordinators.

Basics of Electric VehicleAmrita Renewable Energy club in association with IEEE IAS student branch chapter organised a one day workshop on “Basics of Electric Vehicle” on 6th November 2018 to give an insight into basic engineering skills needed for students participating in National Solar Vehicle Challenge. This session was handled by Mr. Bharath K. R., Asst Professor EEE Dept. and final year students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department
A team of 25 members, including staff and students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Amritapuri campus, in association with the IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapter, co-ordinate by Mr. Srikanth V., Asst Professor Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. were first to join hands with Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd. to participate in the mission “RECONNECT” to restore electricity in flood affected areas. As a part of the mission, the team inspected Pandalam from August 22 – 23, 2018 and Pazhavangadi Panchayat of Ranni in Pathanamthitta district on September 3, 2018.
A programming session on “Python Language” was organized by Anudev. J, Assistant Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Ms. Sandhya Harikumar, Assistant Professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering for third year B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering students during June 25 – 29. 2018. The session was oriented to gear up programming skills of students for attending technical interviews. The sessions were handled by Ms. Gayathri. R. G. and Ms. Thara, Assistant Professors of Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is keen in regularly providing a platform for students every year which bring to lime light their research work, receiving appreciation from the expert evaluators, faculty members and students from various Departments and Research centres. This year also a demonstration of hardware projects of final year students were arranged on May 10, 2018.The projects showcased by the students spanned over various aspects of electrical and electronics engineering like Control and Instrumentation, Power system operation & control, Robotics & Automation, Renewable energy harvesting etc. Most of the projects were product based with focus on developing solutions of social, economic and industrial impact.These projects were evaluated by experts from other Departments includingDr. Jayaraj Poroor, Chairperson Computer Science and Engineering Department., Dr. Karthik V Shankar, Asst. Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department., Ms Gayathri Narayanan, Asst. Professor Electronics and Communication Department., etc. It was a great rostrum for the students to express the ingenious technical ideas.
Latex – A Technical Writing Tool for BeginnersOne day workshop sponsored by IEEE IAS SBC on “Latex – A Technical Writing Tool for Beginners” was coordinated by Dr. Ravikumar Pandi,Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Departent and Mr D. Ashwin, PG Student (Power and Energy Engineering) on May 10, 2018. The workshop was on Latex, which is typesetting software for preparing reports, research papers and presentations- especially useful for researchers engaged in writing technical documents in various engineering disciplines. The workshop was attended by faculty and final year students of M.Tech. and B.Tech. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Amritapuri Campus.
Advanced Programming using Arduino MicrocontrollersRenewable Energy Club organised a two day workshop from Feb 7 – 8, 2018 on “Advanced Programming using Arduino Microcontrollers” and handled by Mr. Bharath K. R., Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, to bestow basic knowledge on Arduino Microcontroller hardware, software, installation and application. Many B.Tech students from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department attended the workshop and secured aspiring experience.
Embedded Systems and AVR MicrocontrollerRenewable Energy Club organised a 5 day workshop on “Embedded Systems and AVR Microcontroller” from April 16 – 20, 2018 for B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering students. The session was handled byMr. Bharath K. R., Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. The workshop mainly focused on basics of AVR, ADC configuration, simulation of ADC in Proteus using different sensors
Basics of Programming using Arduino mega“Basics of Programming using Arduino mega” on behalf of Renewable Energy Club was organized by Mr. Bharath K. R., Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department organised a workshop from March 6 – 7, 2018 .The workshop explored deeply in different versions of Arduino development platform, interfacing with Arduino, PWM generation using Arduino etc. B.Tech students from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department attended the workshop and they were able to secure good practical experience. The workshop succeeded in developing innovative ideas among the students.
STTP on Electric Power SystemsSTTP on Electric Power Systems sponsored by ISTE was conducted between 10th to 15th July 2017, by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amritapuri campus in association with IIT Kharagpur under the National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. of India).This workshop dealt with several modules such as power generation, transmission and distribution along with stability analysis and protection. It also covered advanced topics such as smart grid, demand response, IoT and electricity markets. This remote learning workshop utilized the A-VIEW software developed by E-Learning Department at Amritapuri campus. This remote interactive course content was delivered by renowned Professors from reputed institutions including, Professor N.K. Kishore, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, Professor Shreevardhan A. Soman, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay and Professor Gautam Bandyopadhyay, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIEST Kolkata.The STTP was coordinated by Dr. Ravikumar Pandi,Asst. Professor of EEE Department.

IEEE INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS SOCIETY (IAS)
This is a Student Branch Chapter, officially formed on November 9, 2012 with eight members.
The Student Branch Chapter organizes technical talks by experts in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.
ELYZIA
This is the Electrical Engineering Students’ Association. The association facilitates technical visits / practical training / project work / employment of student members in R & D laboratories, industries and academic institutions.
It plays a pivotal role in organizing the distinguished lectures for the Department. The Association seeks to encourage team work and the spirit of self reliance among its student members.
Some of ELYZIA’s activities include the following:
Visit to Load dispatch center and Substation Students were provided the unique opportunity of discovering “cutting edge” technology emerging in the industrial sector. On November 5, 2009 final year students participated in an industrial visit to the State Load Dispatch Centre and Substation at Kalamasseri. Amidst their hectic academic schedule, these students also enjoyed the chance to relax during this excursion.
Distinguished Lecture on Energy Conservation in Daily Life” Dr. P.S. Chandramohan, Department chairperson and former Director, ANERT, delivered a speech on energy conservation in daily life for all staff members of Amritapuri campus on February 2, 2009. A tele film, Energy Maman, was also presented. This session was definitely enlightening to all participants who learned about the importance of energy conservation and methods that can be implemented into our daily life.
Workshop on Circuit Design ELYZIA, in association with IEEE students chapter, organized a workshop on Circuit Design for July 18, 2008. Students participated with hands-on training on PSPICE for circuit design. Br. Sridhar Babu, Asst. Professor, EEE Department, managed the sessions.
Lamhe 2009 Farewell to Seniors A farewell function, Lamhe 2009, was organized by pre-final year students for the outgoing batch of the Department on May 9, 2009. The main attraction was the cultural program which included skits, speeches and games.
Connect ’09 Welcome to Incoming First Year Students Newcomers of the EEE Department were given a warm welcome by the Students Association, ELYZIA on July 30, 2009. This function helped to establsh a cordial relationship between senior students and first year incoming students along with providing information about the facilities and norms of the college.
