On 21st January, 2019, a senior administration team from O. P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana, comprising of Dr. Y.S.R. Murthy, Registrar and Dr. Indranath Gupta, Controller of Examinations, visited Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.
A project for portable water purifiers under the Jivamritam: Clean Drinking Water Project, the joint project of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the Consulate General of Israel to South India, Bangalore, and Tel Aviv University, was inaugurated at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, on January 21, 2019.

Even though about 90% of the population of Dewgain village are dependent on agriculture, severe water scarcity during the summer months had caused the agricultural yield in the village to go down in recent years.
