Unit 3

Processes and Tools in Knowledge Management – Knowledge capture, storage, retrieval, and dissemination processes – Types of knowledge – explicit vs. tacit – codified vs. personalized – IT in KM – Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) – Content Management Systems (CMS) – Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems – Tools kit for KM – Knowledge networker’s tools kit – knowledge teams tools kit – knowledge-based enterprise tools kit – enterprise tools kit.

Advanced Topics in Knowledge Management – Emerging trends and practices in KM – Institutionalizing best practices for KM – Customer Value Management and its role in KM – Networked knowledge economy and its implications for KM – Knowledge futures – Knowledge markets, ethics, and governance.

Miscellaneous: Knowledge sharing for sustainable development – Developing Knowledge platforms for NGOs and Charitable institutions.

Objectives and Outcomes

Course Objective:

This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Knowledge Management (KM), covering foundational concepts, implementation practices, utilization of processes and tools, exploration of social and intellectual capital, and understanding of advanced topics and emerging trends in KM. Students will explore the significance of social and intellectual capital within KM contexts, understanding their measurement methods and strategies for effective management.
