Scope

This course aims to introduce the students to practical training in various departments in the industry to enhance practical skills and provide hands-on experience in a real-world scenario. The training facilitates students to find out problems related to pharmaceutical product development. This course also equips the student with first-hand training in a professional environment and prepares students for employability in a pharmaceutical environment. Students are exposed to working conditions of control environments requiring regulatory approval of pharmaceutical products and professional interactions. Aligning academic knowledge with industry expectations facilitates professional connections and networking opportunities. While exposed to different challenges in the pharmaceutical industry, the communication skills, leadership and critical thinking abilities of students are enhanced.

This course train the students to gain insight into pharmaceutical industrial trends, technology and practice. Overall this practical training aims to expose the students in various departments of pharma industry especially in manufacturing, quality control quality assurance, research and development.

Objectives and Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student shall be able to,

KNOWLEDGE :

(K1) Discuss the layout of various departments in pharmaceutical industry.

(K2 ) Describe the operations and conditions employed in various manufacturing, quality control or research departments/ premises.

(K3) Explain the maintenance of documents and records in different departments of industry.

(K4) Analyse the warehousing, material supply and handling.

(K5) Differentiate packaging and labelling requirements of different pharmaceutical products.

(K6) Assess the regulatory requirements of pharmaceuticals.

SKILL

(S1) Develop SOP for pharmaceutical processes and equipments. (S2) Gain experience in equipment handling and documentation. (S3) Identify a process problem in the pharmaceutical industry. (S4) Evaluate the literature based on the problem.

(S5) Design the process improvement work plan.

(S6) Prepare the report of activities completed and the proposal.

Introduction to Industrial Internship

Industrial Internship: Training in any selected department in pharmaceutical industry. Explore the activities (operation, storage, inflow, outflow, layout and regulatory affairs) and identify process problem, develop work plan and discuss with academic/ industrial guide. Literature

review and Report preparation.

Evaluation Pattern

Evaluation:

The assessment is done by the academic guide and industrial mentor. There will be continuous evaluation by the industrial mentor on day to day activities. The students shall submit the report of industrial internship activities at the end of the internship. The report shall include the activities and outcomes ( that may include title of future project, aim,

objectives and proposed work plan). The report and presentation will be evaluated by a department-level committee.
