Unit I

Production Team:

Producer, Co-producer-Line Producer-Production assistants-Roles and responsibilities-Setting up production office.

Unit II

Beginning the Work:

Elements of production management business of the film -Pre- production-Script breakdown and shooting schedule- Location survey commissions, Permits-Call sheet management and agreement.

Unit III

The set, Daily routine, Call sheets and production reports work from set- Role of script supervisor, -Reshoot-Wrap.

Unit IV

Insurance:

General insurance guidelines- Insurance Certificate-Production package

Unit V

Final Stage:

Archive and copyright in the film industry- Post-production – Completion bonds- Distribution and selling: Various deliverable medium and OTT, satellite rights- festivals and marketing

Objectives and Outcomes

Objective:

The objective of this filmmaking course is to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to effectively navigate the intricacies of film production from start to finish. By delving into key aspects of production management, including team dynamics, pre-production planning, on-set execution, insurance considerations, and post-production strategies, students will gain a holistic understanding of the filmmaking process. Through practical exercises, case studies, and hands-on experiences, students will develop the expertise to proficiently manage productions, mitigate risks, and maximize creative output in a dynamic and competitive industry.

Course Outcome (CO):

CO1: Recall and identify the roles and responsibilities of various production team members, including producers, line producers, and production assistants.

CO2: Comprehend the business aspects of filmmaking, including budgeting, insurance guidelines, and distribution strategies.

CO3: Analyze scripts to identify shooting requirements, logistical challenges, and potential budgetary constraints.

CO4: Apply skills to solve logistical challenges, and potential budgetary constraints.

CO5: Assess the success of production strategies and decision-making processes through the analysis of production reports, call sheets.

CO6: Design and execute comprehensive production plans, incorporating elements of budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
