E-mails, minutes, reports of different kinds, annual report, status report, survey report, proposals, memorandums, presentations, interviews, profile of institutions, speeches, responding to enquiries, complaints, resumes, applications, summarizing, strategies for writing.
Research writing
Articles for publication (Journals), developing questionnaire, writing abstract, dissertation, qualities of research writing, data (charts, tables) analysis, documentation.
Writing for media and creative writing
Features for publication (Newspapers, magazines, newsletters, notice-board), case studies, short stories, travelogues, writing for children, translation, techniques of writing.
Course Objective:
To familiarize learners with the mechanics of writing and to enable learners to write in English precisely and effectively.
Course Outcomes:
The student will be able to:
CO1: Enhance personal communication skills through various mediums like emails, SMS, greeting cards, and journal writing, and improves handling of different situations such as invitations, condolences, and information conveyance.
CO2: Develop effective social communication strategies through blogs, reviews, comments, tweets, and promotes understanding of cross-cultural communication and gender sensitivity.
CO3: Equip with professional communication skills needed in the workplace, including email writing, report preparation, presentation skills, interview techniques, and strategies for writing.
CO4: Prepare for scholarly communication in research through article writing, questionnaire development, abstract writing, dissertation crafting, data analysis, and documentation.
CO5: Cultivate skills for media writing and creative writing, including feature writing, case studies, short stories, travelogues, writing for children, translation, and various writing techniques.
