Unit I

Introduction to Acting Fundamentals

Overview of acting as an art form, Understanding the actor’s tools: body, voice, and mind, exploring techniques such as relaxation, concentration, and observation, Introduction to improvisation and its role in acting, Practical exercises to develop presence and awareness on stage.

Unit II

Character Development

Understanding character motivation and objectives, Techniques for building believable characters, exploring physicality and movement in character development, analyzing scripts and breaking down characters, Scene work: applying character development techniques to scenes from plays or scripts

Unit III

Voice and Speech

Vocal warm-ups and exercises for improving resonance, projection, and articulation, Understanding the importance of breath support in vocal production, exploring accents and dialects, Techniques for effective storytelling through voice modulation, Scene work focusing on the use of voice to convey character emotions and intentions

Unit IV

Scene Study

Advanced scene analysis techniques, Partner work: developing chemistry and rapport with scene partners, applying acting techniques to scripted scenes, Rehearsal techniques for scene study, Feedback and critique sessions to refine scene performances.

Unit V

Performance Preparation and Presentation

Understanding the production process from audition to performance, Techniques for preparing for auditions and callbacks, Rehearsal etiquette and collaboration with directors and fellow actors, Performance skills: stage presence, blocking, and timing, Final showcase: presenting scenes or monologues for an audience, followed by feedback and reflection.

Objectives and Outcomes

Objective:

The course “Acting and Dramatic Presentation” aims to focus on developing fundamental acting techniques and enhancing dramatic presentation skills. Through theoretical understanding, practical exercises, and performance opportunities, students will explore various aspects of acting, including character development, voice modulation, movement, improvisation, and stage presence.

CO 2 Draft techniques for character analysis and portrayal.

CO 3 Modify vocal and physical expressiveness for effective performance and explore improvisation and spontaneity in acting.
