Syllabus

Unit I

Concept of 2D Animation

Introduction to types of animation, principles, and the steps involved in creating a 2D animation. Traditional techniques in animation. Introduction to software tools.

Unit II

Drawing Styles and Color Theory

Understanding and adapting to different art forms and styles, drawing styles, digital drawing methods, designing backgrounds, color schemes, and color principles. Creating simple Storyboards.

Unit III

Principles of Animation

Applying traditional principles – squash and stretch, anticipation, follow-through, etc.

Unit IV

Sound and Visual Images in Animation

Understanding the importance of sound in animation. Digitizing and editing sound using software tools. Synchronizing sound with the visual elements in animations. Design elements, and principles of visual elements in motion graphics.

Unit V

Creating a short 2d animated video with sound, based on given theme.

Objectives and Outcomes

This course, ‘2D Animation Techniques Lab’, is a comprehensive introduction to the world of 2D animation. It is designed to expose students to the fundamental principles and techniques that make 2D animation possible. The course covers both traditional hand-drawn animation and modern digital animation techniques. Students will learn how to create dynamic and engaging animations that can be used in various forms of visual media and communication. This course is ideal for those who are new to animation and those who want to expand their knowledge of visual storytelling.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
