Two papers from the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, were selected for oral presentation in the National Conference on Vestibular Assessment and Management; “Learn to Balance the Unbalanced”, RCI recognized CRE HCC FlaSH Series IV conducted from 28th February to 2nd March, 2019 at Holy Cross College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.
“Vascular Loop and Audiovestibular Findings: A Case Report” presented by Ms. Layoni Boban, 2015 BASLP Batch, Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences (Co authors: Dr. Prem G., Dr. Srinivas Dorasala, Ms. Dayana Devassy, Ms. Sharon M. P., Ms. Pramada Nair & Ms. Ashitha Paul) was selected for oral presentation and bagged third position in the ‘Best Oral Presentation’ category.
Also the poster on “Vestibular Migraine and Audiological Investigation” presented by Ms. Mereena Joy, 2015 BASLP Batch, Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences (Co authors: Dr. Prem G., Dr. Srinivas Dorasala, Ms. Dayana Devassy, Ms. Sharon M. P., Ms. Pramada Nair & Ms. Ahana Cleetus) got special appreciation from the judges.
In connection with the Infection Control Week 2018, a quiz competition was organized among the schools in the Health Sciences Campus, Kochi. Final year M.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology (Microbiology) students Ms. Karthika and Ms. Unnimaya won the first prize in the Quiz competition.
Students of second year MSc. Medical Laboratory Technology ( Pathology Specialization ) at Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, has bagged awards in the “Seventh CME for Medical Laboratory Technologists” held at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai during November 24 -25, 2017. Ms. Bitty Kurian won the first prize and Ms. Arya B. won the second prize in poster presentation category. Ms. Bitty Kurian presented poster on the topic – Utility of Clot Waveform Analysis and Ms. Arya B. presented poster on the topic – Evaluation of Indigenous Control Material For Automated Cell Counters. Ms.Navami Nandakumar won second prize in quiz competition.
Mr. Akhil A., 2nd year postgraduate student in Biostatistics, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, won the Second price in the Inter Amrita Power Lifting championship held at Amritapuri campus from October 4-5, 2018.
He competed in the 93 kg weight category and lifted a total of 480 kg (squat-152.5 kg, bench press 115kg and deadlift 212.5 kg).
He also got selected for the inter-university bodybuilding competition.
He will be representing Amrita University in the 80 kg category.
Mr. Akhil, first year MSc Biostatistics student, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, secured gold medal in the Amrita Inter-campus athletics Championship held at ettimadai during November 03 – 05, 2017. He created a new meet record in shot put.
Mr. Sreenath J. of B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology (2013 batch) bagged First Prize in Project Presentation and Ms. Priya Roys & Ms. Drisya Udayan of B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology (2014 batch), Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences won First Prize in Poster Competition held in connection with the “SILEX – 2017”, 17th National Conference of Medical Laboratory Technology students at Government Medical College, Kozhikode on 8th & 9th of Dec 2017.
Topic of Project presentation – Immunofluorescence on Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded sections.

Anju V. N., First-year MSc Swallowing Disorders and Therapy student, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, got 1st prize in speech and language pathology oral presentation on – “A myth about swallowing in laryngectomy patients: Study of 100 patients” in the World Phonocon 2017 – Joint Meeting of International Association of Phonosurgery and Indian Association of Phonosurgeons held at Gurgaon during February 17 – 19, 2017. She was guided by Dr. Jayakumar Menon and Dr. Subramania Iyer of Head and Neck Surgery & Oncology Department.
The students of MSc Clinical Nutrition at the Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences took part in the workshop organised by the Department of Home Science, Assumption College, Changanacherry. An intercollegiate quiz competition “Nutritia- 2017” also was conducted on 28th February 2017 as part of the workshop engrossed on the arena of Clinical Nutrition. A total of 6 colleges participated in the quiz. Ms. Ansa Saju and Ms. Neha S. Kumar, students of first year, MSc. Clinical Nutrition, Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences secured the first prize in the competition.
Bri. Vijisha C., Senior Physician Assistant, Department of CVTS, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, received the International Award from Maquet Group, Germany, as the No.1 Performer of Endoscopic Vein Harvesting Techniqe in India. She has completed more than 400 Endoscopic vein harvesting in the last one year.
Ms. Meghna Paulo and Ms. Athira Rajan (interns) won the first place in the quiz competition held at the Respiratory Therapy National Conference (RESCARE 2015) held at Coimbatore during October 16 – 18 2015.
Third year B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology students of Amrita Centre for Allied Health Sciences, Ms. Reshma K.P. and Ms. Suraymya Babu won the second prize in poster presentation in “SILEX 2015”, 16th Annual conference of SAMT (Students Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists) held during December 11 – 12, 2015 at Medical College,Kannur.
Physician Assistant Students of Amrita Centre for Allied Health Sciences Ms. Surya V., Ms. Aiswarya. K. P. and Ms. Dhaneesha A. D. won the second prize in the Intercollegiate Quiz Competition “MEDIQUIZ” held as part of the International Conference of Physician Assistants (IAPACON 2015) conducted during October 10 – 11, 2015 at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.
In the recently concluded International Diabetes Update (IDU-2015) conducted at IMA house Kochi, final-year BSc Diabetes Sciences students from Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences participated and won accolades. Mr. Amritesh, Mr. Ashfan Azeez and Ms. Akhila won the best poster award for their poster titled “Common errors of insulin injection.” Mr. Mohammed Ashraf & Ms. Revathy presented an oral communication on “An audit of Insulin initiation and titration in Type 2 Diabetes”.
Their achievement is particularly creditable as they were the only under graduate students among the group of Doctors who presented papers at the meeting and the fact that they won the best poster award is specially noteworthy.

Ms. Megna Paulo, BSc Respiratory Therapy 2012 batch student and Ms. Sruthi S., BSc Medical Radiological Technology 2012 batch student of Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences, Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi won the zonal prizes in the All- India EssayWriting Event 2014 organized by Shri. Ramachandra Mission in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre for Indiaand Bhutan. The topic of the essay competition was “To be truthful is to be human.” The School of Medicine has also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the organizers for the maximum number of students’ participation in the event.
