The Department coordinates the sports activities of all the schools at Amritapuri Campus i. e., School of Arts & Science, School of Ayurveda, School of Biotechnology and School of Engineering and regularly organizes various intramural competitions and annual athletic meets. The students are pooled into four teams – Jyothirmayi, Chinmayi, Amritamayi and Anandamayi who contend to bag the Annual Overall Championship.
Students put up fierce competition as individuals and in team to emulate success under these banners to win the individual championship as well as Overall Trophy for the year. The Annual Sports meet starts with the Passing of the Torch and the Lighting of the Lamp after which students parade under their colours. Students pledge to conduct the athletic meet with full spirits and integrity as the Team Captains administer the oath to them.
The Athletics Meet signs off with the felicitation of winners and prize distribution ceremony after students pay tribute to the National Anthem.
Not only the students but also the members of teaching fraternity and the staff at Amrita get to participate in tournaments and physical education activities organized exclusively for them at the Campus.
