ELIGIBILITY NORMS (B. Sc. Biotechnology, B. Sc. Microbiology)

Fee Structure

Applicable to those who have studied under CBSE/ ICSE /State Board
Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination with an aggregate of minimum 60% in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Applicable to those who have studied under a system other than CBSE/ ICSE / State Board
Candidates who have studied under a system different from CBSE/ ICSE /State Boards, should obtain preferably ‘A’ grade (or equivalent) in ‘A’ level examination or its equivalent. Students who have taken Advance Placement Courses will have preference. Candidates should have studied Biology, Physics and Chemistry in Grade 11 and Grade 12.Such candidates should also obtain an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, AIU House, 16. ELIGIBILITY NORMS (M.Sc. Biotechnology, M. Sc. Microbiology, M. Sc. Bioinformatics)
Candidates must have passed bachelors degree (10+2+3 system ) in any discipline of science including Mathematics, Engineering or Medicine with an aggregate of minimum 60% marks. A Background of Biology preferred for M. Sc. Biotechnology and Microbiology and for M. Sc. Bioinformatics background in Mathematics or Computer Science preferred.

Applicable to those who have studied under foreign universities
These candidates should get an Equivalence Certificate from The Association of Indian Universities, AIU House, 16. Comd. Indrajit Gupta Marg (Kotla Marg), New Delhi, India. For details, Visit www.aiu.ac.in.

Admission Procedure:
For UG Course: Selection is based on the marks obtained in the qualification examination followed by personal interview. For PG Course: Selection is based on the performance in the evaluation test and personal interview conducted by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

FAQs

Is Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham affiliated to any University for purpose of recognition of degrees?

No. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a University established under sec 3 of UGC Act 1956. Being a University, the question of affiliation to another university does not arise. Since the university is recognized by UGC and Ministry of HRD,Govt. of India, the courses offered by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham are recognized. TheUniversity is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC )with ‘A’ Grade in 2009. The HRD Ministry’s Panel Report (2010) on Deemed Universities has graded Amrita in Category ‘A’.

How are UG & PG Programmes designed?

Choice Based credit system with continuous evaluation is followed in semester pattern.

How many students are presently studying in the University?

At present around 15,000 students are studying in the five campuses of the University in Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Management, Social work, Communication and so on.

Eligibilty& criteria

a. for UG programmes

To apply it is mandatory to have taken Biology as a subject in your XII std. 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology is a necessary eligibility.

b. for PG programmes

Graduation in any discipline of science including Mathematics, Engineering or Medicine. Background in Biology is preferred for Biotechnology & Microbiology programs whereas a background in Mathematics or Computer Science is preferred for the bioinformatics program.

Yes

No.

4-5 days after the date of the interview

Bank loan
