About the Project

The limitations posed by the Von Neumann architecture has motivated alternative approaches to computing with ideas heavily borrowed from nature especially the human nervous system. The focus is mainly on increasing local processing to reduce the memory bottleneck. Many promising approaches have been proposed in the past few years to overcome the limitations of Von Neumann computing. The proposed research seeks to investigate energy efficient low cost architectures in the following domains

  1. Neuromorphic Computing
  2. Approximate Computing
  3. Formal Design and synthesis of energy-efficient Cyber Physical Systems

The primary focus will be on development and evaluation of architectures in the above domains and their validation on platforms such as FPGAs
