Research in fluid dynamics involves numerical solution of governing equations, parallel computer programming, use of high performance computers. Two type of mathematical models leads to continuum and non-continuum methods. Non-continuum methods use probabilistic approaches, one popular one is called Direct Simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC) method. Developing models from computational data is another area being researched. This uses methods in Machine Learning. Applications: Turbomachinery, Heat Transfer, Turbulence.
