The evolution in power system network has opened a large set of avenues for use of intelligent and smart systems for improved management of the system operation. This would include systems that facilitate automation of facilities like generation plants, sub stations, consumer facilities; etc.; operational aspects like smoothening of load curve, supply-demand matching, optimal power balancing etc.; automated operations like renewable source integration, demand response, dynamic load management, etc. Such smart systems would need to make intelligent and real time decisions that can contribute to the operation and management of the power grid. For this these smart systems would do real time grid monitoring by collecting data from generation, transmission, distribution and consumption points of the grid and use this for local, central and cloud-based decision making. The work involves development of AI/ML models for achieving energy management in a smart micro grid with heterogeneous sources and loads.
