Dependency parsing is the process of analyzing the grammatical structure of a sentence and thereby identifying the underlying relationships between the words. The dependency parser constructs a tree by considering the main verb in a sentence as the root and identifying how other words are related to this root. This process is challenging for Indian languages because of the free order nature of the languages. The challenge is more for code-mixed Indian languages. This project aims to apply Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods to develop dependency parsers for Indian languages/code-mixed Indian languages using deep learning algorithms. We also aim to use the dependency parser for other NLP tasks like text classification in this project.
