Cobaloxime is very significant as an active photo catalytic constituent for solar-to-fuel system is mainly due to the fact that it contains a relatively cheap earth abundant cobalt metal unlike noble metal containing systems. Cobaloximes were most efficient in photochemical production of hydrogen in combination with various PS such as xanthene dyes, perylene dyes, boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and ruthenium based dyes.Cobaloxime is also very good catalyst for the conversion of carbon monoxide to organic products.
