The project proposal aims at finding suitable cathode materials as a better combination for electrolytes and performs well as a battery with higher energy density and larger voltage window. The project also aims at assembling battery at its smallest possible dimension and to test at rigorous conditions of temperature and pressure to be usable for various applications.Although various groups around the globe have tried to obtain a best possible combination of lithium based cathode materials with a suitable electrolyte to get a lithium-ion battery with a good success, these batteries have shown drawbacks like corrosive electrodes due to higher reactivity of lithium metal. Hence, this project is proposed to study the sodium based cathode materials for a sodium-ion battery with a suitable electrolyte to get the best possible energy density with a large operational voltage window.
