A student team, “Team Yorkers” from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), at School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, has emerged as one among the top teams in the La Trobe University Technology Infusion Grand Challenge (TIGC) 2020.
Team Yorkers developed a “Smart Stove” that Intelligently turns off on its own for safety reasons and can be controlled remotely from anywhere in the world. The team won AUD $600 for developing a prototype at this innovation competition themed ‘Smart City’ innovation.
Student members included Sanjai Lal T. S. and Arun Vignesh of the 2017-2021 batch B. Tech. CSE and Ajith S. of 2017-2021 batch B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), mentored by Associate Professor Prashant R. Nair, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus.
Supported by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Cisco ThingQbator program, the student innovation addresses the UN Sustainable Development Goal of sustainable cities and communities and is also in line with the Amrita Chancellor, World· renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanadamayi Devi’s vision of compassion driven research.
