The School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, celebrated Sports day from February 14-15, 2020, with great pomp and fervor. To set the tone for the annual extravaganza, Dr. Bipin Nair (Dean, School of Biotechnology, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus) delivered the inaugural address that was punctuated with inspiration, candour, humour and well-wish. The cauldron of flame representing the passion and undying spirit of athletes was ceremoniously lit following a torch relay by the achievers of the school in sports.

The Olympic flag was hoisted by the chief guest of the day, K. Bhaskar Rao (Inspector, CRPF). Following which he took the salute of flag-bearers who were leading the colorful and impressive march past contingents of four different houses viz, Amritamayi, Anandamayi, Chinmayi, and Jyothirmayi. The chief guest delivered an inspirational speech in Hindi on the occasion, emphasizing the need for sports and exercise in the daily routine of individuals and the importance of leading a disciplined life.

Over two days, the athlete participated in 15 different events and won medals. An additional attraction was the cricket and football match between the staff and the students which was played in good spirit and camaraderie.

Celebrations culminated with the giving away of overall championship trophy for the Chinmayi house and distribution of prizes to the best sportspersons.
